To enable the continuous storage feature:


1. Connect a hard drive or flash drive to your Base Station, and reboot the Base Station by unplugging and then re-connecting the power cable. If you don't reboot your Base Station, it won't connect to the drive.

2. Select the camera you want to record from, go to its setting page, and Enable Recording.

3.If there are times when you don't want the camera to record, use the Inactive Hours function

4. If you want to setup continuous recording for multiple cameras, please go to each camera setting page, and repeat step 2 and 3. 

5. When the recording function is working, you will see a red REC icon at the top right side of the screen for each camera. This indicates that the camera is working in continuous storage mode in the same way that a CCTV system would operate.



Compatible formats


The CleverLoop Base Station only supports FAT32 and NTFS formatted external drives. FAT64 (exFAT) formats are not supported. 


Available space


There must be at least 1G of space available in a hard drive for it to work, but it's highly recommended to check if you have at least 4G space space in hard drive ( in FAT32 and NTFS format, some hard drive have different format at the same time.)


Footage stored in 30 minute time blocks


Video files are stored onto the hard drive in folders that are ordered by camera name, day and then 30 minute time blocks. Please note that if you disconnect a hard drive while it is part way through recording a 30 minute time block of continuous footage, then the file will not be stored. If an event has taken place that you want to see on the hard drive, you must wait more than 30 minutes. For more detail on how to view recorded footage, please see this article.



Powering an external hard drive


Most portable hard drives don't need an additional power supply to work, but if you are using a hard drive that consumes a higher level of power then it may need to be connected to a separate power supply. If you insert the hard drive connection cable into the Base Station USB port, and find it is not running, please connect the hard drive to an additional power supply.


If you connect a portable hard drive, and you can hear it running but it doesn't connect to the Base Station, it may need more power than the Base Station 2 Amp power supply can provide. To fix this you would need to buy a 2.4 Amp, 5 Volt DC USB plug.


Note: to make sure that footage being stored to a hard drive is stable and without broken frames, it is recommended that cameras are connected to the Base Station with an Ethernet cable, unless the WiFi signal strength at the camera is very strong.
